In short: we install impact windows and doors throughout Delray Beach, about fifteen minutes up Federal Highway or I-95 from central Boca. The city runs its own permit office, its historic districts can add a design review, and a standard impact window runs about $850–$2,100 installed, as an estimate.
Historic districts off Atlantic Avenue
Delray has several locally designated historic districts, including Old School Square, the Marina district and Del-Ida Park, where wood-frame cottages and 1920s and 1930s homes stand a few blocks from the Atlantic Avenue restaurants. Changing windows on a contributing building there can need a certificate of appropriateness before the building permit. We look up the property's status first, and where a review applies we put together the elevations and product sheets it asks for.

Canal and lake homes
Around Lake Ida, Tropic Isle and the streets along the Intracoastal, many homes have big water-facing sliders and picture windows. Those openings take the most wind and salt, so they are where we specify the highest design pressure and coated or stainless hardware. Owners often do the water side first and the street side the following year.
West of the city line
Out along Atlantic Avenue west of Military Trail and toward Jog Road, the 55+ communities and gated neighborhoods built from the 1970s onward have their own associations and, in many cases, county rather than city permitting. Villa and condo boards there commonly set the frame color and approve the product list, so we ask for those rules before pricing.
Delray Beach figures are estimates until we have measured. The cost guide lists every window and door range.
Delray Beach questions
Who issues window permits in Delray Beach?
Inside city limits, the City of Delray Beach's building division. Many of the large 55+ communities with a Delray mailing address west of the city line are unincorporated, so those go to Palm Beach County. We confirm which before filing.
Does a historic district change what I can install?
It can. In Delray's designated districts, exterior changes may need approval before a permit, and the reviewers look at things like divided-lite patterns and how the frame sits in the wall. Impact units with simulated divided lites usually satisfy them.
